Jainaba Fye

jainaba-fye.jpgJainaba Fye is a rising sophomore at Spelman College where she is studying International Studies and Economics. Jainaba is passionate about the environment, politics, and women’s rights issues. Most recently, Jainaba facilitated workshops in Kigali, Rwanda, and Baltimore, Maryland entitled Miss In Action. Miss In Action is an initiative Jainaba developed to empower women and young girls. The workshop focuses on building self-esteem, goal setting techniques, and developing leadership skills. Jainaba hopes to one day work on women’s rights issues in developing countries.

Spelman Ambassadors Jainaba Fye and Kandyce Perry worked to incorporate environmental literacy into the Spelman College New Student Orientation to ensure that incoming freshmen for years to come understand Spelman’s commitment to a sustainable future. Watch the video here.

NaAsiaha Simon

naasiaha-simon.jpgNaAsiaha Simon was born and raised in Fresno, California. As a member of a close-knit family, she understands the value of a strong community and activism at all stages. She hopes to continue to bring that spirit to her campus. Upon graduation, She plan to attend grad school and obtain her masters in Public Relations and hopefully work in public relations and specialize in event management. Currently, Ms. Simon serves the President of the Women of Opportunity organization.

Courtney Strickland

courtney-strickland.jpgCourtney Strickland is a junior marine biology major with a minor in Chemistry at Elizabeth City State University. She is also the founder and president of ECSU’s Green Council and Director of Sustainability for CRC. She hopes to reach those that aren’t fully aware of their potential. Going green just isn’t a saying for her it’s a life style and she plan to keep it that way! Through her dedication and motivation she hopes to reach others.

Nara McCray

She excels academically and has held executive positions in several campus organizations such as the NAACP, the Honors Program, and the Environmental Science Club. While maintaining her full academic scholarship at AAMU, she enjoys attending conferences and learning outside of the classroom. Opportunities like internships, such as the one she just completed in Grand Teton National Park, are helpful in her development as an individual and as a professional. Growing up in Anchorage, Alaska, Nara enjoys nature and hopes to have a career conserving and working outdoors.
