Green For All Applauds Governor Brown for Signing Historic Climate Law
Today, Governor Brown signed SB 32, a historic climate law that will benefit all Californians by mandating reducing greenhouse gas emissions to 40 percent by 2030. This is the most aggressive action made by any state government to date to tackle climate change.
In response, Green For All Director Vien Truong released the following statement:
“By signing SB 32 into law today, Governor Brown has secured California’s leadership in the fight against climate change.”
“Gov. Brown has also secured California’s place as a global leader in what a just transition to clean energy looks like by ensuring our model of investing transition money into rebuilding communities hurt first and worst by the fossil fuel industry continues into the future.”
“California has invested hundreds of millions, and soon to be billions, of dollars into rebuilding communities most harmed by the fossil fuel industry -- ensuring that as we build the clean energy economy, we also build something better and stronger than before.”
“We hope California’s progress encourages the rest of this country to transition to clean energy in ways that do not leave low income communities and communities of color behind.”
