Statement from Green For All on Critical Clean Air Regulations

Oakland, CA – Today, as Congress continues to debate the vital regulations that keep our air safe and our kids health and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Green For All issued the following statement in support of these critical regulations:
“Clean air is a public health issue and it is the EPA’s responsibility to put in place important regulations to ensure this basic need is protected.  Pollutants like mercury and carbon dioxide are giving children in the nation’s most vulnerable communities illnesses that are completely preventable,” said Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins, CEO of Green For All.  “To build a 21st Century green economy, we must protect the health of our future leaders, and hold our nation’s biggest polluters accountable so that they transition to a cleaner way of doing business.”
Last week, Green For All and the NAACP announced a partnership in support of the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards which will finally limited the amount of toxins coal-fired power plants can release into the air.  These standards are currently at risk as industry and some in Congress fight to destroy these groundbreaking regulations.  The groups have launched a Tumblr page and toolkit to help communities spread the word and organize to support the standards.
Additionally, Green For All’s CEO Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins penned a piece titled How Long Will We Let Them Poison Our Kids?, which was posted on Huffington Post last week.  To view Phaedra’s piece about the importance of clean air regulations visit:  http://www.huffingtonpost.com/phaedra-ellislamkins/how-long-will-we-let-them_b_1560926.html.
